Putting People First in Every Emergency
Fired Up LA was founded to make sure no one is left behind when disaster strikes. Our mission is simple but urgent: to hold Los Angeles County and all responsible parties accountable for delivering timely, effective, and equitable emergency alerts—because every second matters and every life counts.
When the Eaton Fire swept through our communities, residents west of Lake Ave were left without warnings while their neighbors across the street received evacuation alerts. This was not just a mistake—it was a systemic failure that claimed eighteen lives and put countless others in danger. We refuse to let it happen again.
Our Mission
Fired Up LA is a people-powered movement demanding:
Transparency
Transparency from the LA County Office of Emergency Management about what went wrong and how it will be fixed. The public deserves clear, honest answers about the Eaton Fire alert failure and the decisions that led to it. Only full transparency will rebuild trust and ensure the same mistakes aren’t repeated.
Accountability
Accountability for the failure to deploy the Genasys alert system effectively and equitably.
County leaders and emergency officials must take responsibility for putting lives at risk through inaction and/or poor implementation. Without accountability, there can be no progress.
Reform
Reform to ensure that every neighborhood, regardless of geography, income, or demographic, receives life-saving alerts without delay. No community should be left vulnerable. Emergency response must be rooted in equity, not favoritism.
Oversight
Oversight of future emergency communication rollouts, with community input and rigorous testing required. We need independent monitoring and public engagement to guarantee new systems actually work when it counts. Testing can’t be optional—and community voices must be central to the process.
We believe emergency systems should serve everyone— not just the east side, and not just when it’s convenient. We’re here to amplify the voices of those ignored and to fight for an alert system that treats every Angeleno’s life with equal urgency.
Fired Up LA isn’t waiting for the next disaster to speak up. We’re speaking out now—and we won’t stop until our communities are protected, informed, and respected.
